Understanding COPD

Exacerbations of COPD are associated with mortality, morbidity, and the leading cause of more exacerbations. Preventing further exacerbations is significant. Before you are discharged from the hospital, there should be a significant review of treatments and medications. This is missed a lot of the time. Being armed with the tools to know better is your defense to your longevity (Epstein, Barak-Corren, & Gerger, 2019).

Who is at risk for COPD?

The prevalence of COPD is increasing. The important part of diagnosis, is that it is accurate. While we reap the consequences of 20th century tobacco smoking, we see an increase in COPD cases. There is an unseen bias in diagnosing those with COPD, that’s while it’s important to see those bias and move past them to even-handed access to effective care (Chapman, 2018).
